The flying fish can jump out of one ecosystem,context, world, and for a brief moment, can glide into another. It can fly through and between mutually exclusive worlds, and gain perspectives not available to other creatures. The flying fish is a whimsical hybrid, an evolutionary poem.

And from the waters, it bypasses the "pedestrian" world of land, and soars straight for the skies, like its feathered distant cousins. It hovers, its body a glimmering question mark in the sky, for some individual to see when they are ready.

A moment--and a paradigm shift--later, it returns to the water, made wiser by the journey, and made lighter through the experience of flight.

It knows that its world is not the only one, and it can always return to that moment of transcendance, with the help of limbs that know when it is time to be fins, and when it is time to unfurl into wings.
